WHAT WE DO

Disaster Preparedness and Response through Nigerian Red Cross Society's network of Branches and divisions all over the country, allowing an early warnings of impending disasters, and through its trained Emergency First Aid Teams (EFATs) on the spot, the Nigerian Red Cross Society has the capacity to respond in timely and appropriate manner to the needs of disaster victims.

Restoring Family Links (RFL): Restoring family links is a term that covers a wide range of activities that are designed to alleviate the pain of separation caused by conflict; natural hazards induced disasters and migration.

The Nigerian Red Cross Society’s RFL unit does this through the following:

  • · Organizing the exchange of family news
  • · Tracing individuals
  • · Registration of unaccompanied minors and separated children during emergencies
  • · Reuniting and repatriating families where feasible

Youth Development: Training and engaging youth in positive skill acquisition and behavioural change programmes. By emphasizing these values it brings about positive skills and attitudinal change, hence promoting and sustaining individuals, community and national development.

Alternative to Violence: Is a programme aimed at reducing violence within the community. It is comprised of a series of 3-day experiential interactive workshop, which principally target the youth.
